smartIT is seeking a reliable and experienced Low Voltage Field Technician to join our growing team. This is a hands-on field position where you will install, support, and troubleshoot cabling, networking, WiFi, and AV systems for businesses, schools, and nonprofits throughout the New York metro area. You will work independently and alongside other technicians to complete infrastructure projects, office buildouts, and technology deployments.

If you enjoy working in the field, take pride in clean and professional installations, and have experience with structured cabling, low-voltage systems, and network equipment, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

  • Run, terminate, test, and label Cat5e/Cat6 cabling
  • Mount TVs, access points, cameras, racks, and network equipment
  • Install and deploy routers, switches, and Wi-Fi systems
  • Support office buildouts and infrastructure installs
  • Troubleshoot physical and network issues on-site
  • Work on ladders and in ceilings regularly
  • Maintain clean and organized job sites
  • Communicate with clients during on-site work

Expectations:

  • Show up on time every day
  • Be comfortable working full-time in the field
  • Be willing to work overtime if needed
  • Work independently and take ownership
  • Maintain a professional presence with clients

Requirements:

  • Must know how to properly terminate, test, and label Ethernet cabling
  • Experience with low-voltage cabling and installations
  • Comfortable using hand tools and power tools
  • Able to lift 50 lbs and work on ladders
  • Valid driver’s license

Ability to travel daily throughout Manhattan and the Metro NYC area

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Ubiquiti, Meraki, or similar hardware
  • Basic networking knowledge (IP, switching, Wi-Fi)
  • Experience with cameras, access control, or AV installs
